Purple Leather Jacket

A girl can never have too many leather jackets, but up until now all mine have been black. I’ve really welcomed the addition of this dark purple one. It’s still a versatile colour, which means you can throw it over anything (that’s the best thing about leather jackets), but it’s a little different and adds some colour to outfits like this which are fairly plain. I also love how the fabric is rumpled. It gives it a lovely relaxed feel that’s just perfect for a leather jacket.

Happy weekend everyone! Hope you have a great time 🙂 x

Check Shirt and Leather Leggings

Men's shirt on girl

Red leather leggings

Superdry shirts

shirt: Superdry c/o Cult Clothing, leggings: River Island, boots: Topshop, bag: Topshop

Last time I was styling a men’s shirt on the blog it was a polished work outfit, but the casual vibe of a check shirt suits something more relaxed. I love Superdry shirts, especially from the men’s collection – they’re really thick and snuggly, and are the perfect shape for lazy Sunday mornings at home with nothing but your pants on or to go with denim shorts and boots in summer. It’s still too cold for either of those things at the moment, so I’ve been wearing my shirt with leather-look leggings and jeans. These red coated leggings from River Island can look a little in-your-face, but they’re a great pop of colour for winter outfits when I’m not feeling like looking too monochrome.

For the first post in my new series of spotlights on colour, say hello to PINK. They say pink is a ‘girly’ colour, but I think these pictures prove that stereotype wrong – it can be anything from the softest, palest hue like the sky at sunrise, to a bold, bright colour that packs a punch. Pink’s versatility is one of the reasons I love it so much. I also think it’s one of those colours that lifts a mood – that pink wallpaper in the picture with the gold lamp is such a gorgeous, happy colour, and I’d love it across one wall in my home! Pink’s great in fashion too as it’s a colour that really suits all skin-tones. If you’re a paler girl, opt for light pastel pinks to enhance your soft beauty, and if you’ve got olive or dark skin, neon pinks will look amazing on you.

These three dresses in the last picture are an example of how different pink can be. The Tibi dress on the left is so beautiful – it reminds me of something Blair Waldorf would wear – while the silky Acne number in the middle is perfect for a summer wedding. The Day Birger et Mikkelsen dress on the right proves that pink can be cool, and it’s loose t shirt shape makes it a great piece for the daytime. Btw, have a little browse at the rest of My Wardrobe’s designer dresses if you’re looking for an investment piece – they have the most gorgeous collection.

New Year Wishlist

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone! With 2013 just a few hours away, I wanted to do my last wishlist of the year. Here are some goodies I’ve had my eye on recently – they’re the perfect treats to celebrate starting a new year!

Fashion blogger wishlist

left to right: Nasty Gal outfit (in love the whole look – really want to start wearing more pastels together) / AllSaints sweat / See by Chloe belt / River Island bag / Amanda Wakeley ring (just want something from the Ernest Jones rings range in general – drool!) / Accessorize necklace / Alice + Olivia skirt / Nasty Gal flats /Bobbi Brown nail polish

I’m SO excited for tonight – Callum’s having a party round his, and this year I really feel in the mood to celebrate. So many amazing things have happened to me this year it’s unbelievable, and I’m feeling so grateful for all the good luck that’s come my way. I have to say a huge thank you too to all my lovely readers of course, because without you Girl in the Lens would still be a little unknown blog whose only reader is my mum! So thank you, and I hope you’ll continue sharing the journey with us in 2013.

Now go get ready to PARTY! x

Rabbit Jumper

The Orphan's Arms jumper

Rabbit jumper

jumper: c/o The Orphan’s Arms, jeans: Topshop

Not much to say here – just a cosy jumper and jeans to snuggle up in when it’s cold outside. Hope everyone had a  wonderful Christmas? Mine is usually quite quiet – I’m an only child and it’s normally just me and the rents, but this year we had a family friend over, then we all went to Callum’s for Boxing Day, and we’ve just spent two days with my cousins in their beautiful countryside home in Wiltshire.

A little word of warning – it might get a bit quiet here over the next few weeks as I’ve just had my edits from my agent for my novel and need to get them done quickly. I’m documenting my publishing journey over at my author blog though, so head over there for updates on what’s going on on that side of things! And I do have plenty of outfit posts scheduled for Girl in the Lens so there’ll still be pretty pictures to look at every now and then 😉 x
