jumper: Topshop, jeans: Urban Outfitters, boots: c/o StylistPick, bag: Topshop
Sometimes you just want to throw a jumper over some jeans and head out the house. But this is no ordinary jumper. Oh no. This is a beauty from J.W. Anderson’s collaboration with Topshop. I had to get it as soon as I saw it – a jumper with a ghost on it? YES PLEASE! I’ve been wearing it non stop over jeans or shirts, it’s just so easy to style. Also – how incredible are these boots! You’ll be seeing a lot more of them on the blog in posts to come as I’ve just finished a challenge with StylistPick to style them every day for a week. It wasn’t hard. They’re really versatile in both colour and shape, and made pretty much any outfit look that much cooler with them on.

Interview Magazine
Yes, I’m girl crushing on Mila Kunis. I mean – how can you not? Those doe eyes and full lips, that husky voice. And now I love her even more after this photoshoot for Interview Magazine, shot by Craig McDean and styled by Karl Temper. It’s ranch-girl meets Megan Fox in Transformers, and unlike some shoots I see of celebrities, this one really seems to suit Mila’s style. It’s cool, urban and down-to-earth. Leather jackets, shorts and boots are my uniform, and I can safely say I’d wear each one of these outfits. Very Rag & Bone/Zadig et Voltaire/IRO. I like the soft nods to AW12 trends – oxblood/dark purple accents, contrast sleeves, gothic details – but these outfits are so simple and cool they’d work all year round.

5th October, 2012 Now, I don’t believe we should all be dictated by trends when it comes to fashion. I’ve never been keen on following the norm just for the sake of it, and style is such a personal thing, you need to always remain true to yourself. HOWEVER – trends are great because they bring our attention to particular looks/colours/fabrics/styles and in that way it’s great to keep an eye on them and adapt them for your own wardrobe. One trend I’m loving this season is the colour purple. I don’t have nearly enough purple items in my collection, and yet I really love the colour and seeing it splashed everywhere this season has reminded me why. So here’s a collection of my top purple picks for this season I created in collaboration with Avenue 32 …

1. Roksanda Ilincic Dalila Bikini /2. Bex Rox Eivissa Cuff / 3. Mother Denim Maroon Jeans / 4. Paula Cademartori Fortaleza Tatiana Bag / 5. Calla Magenta Jersey / 6. Ahilya Ladders Scarf /
Even though winter’s just started, I’m already dreaming about summer next year, or perhaps a holiday sometime sooner (please a holiday, I really really need one!), so I had to include a bikini in this set. Roksanda Ilincic at Avenue 32 is a new designer for me, but I’m already obsessed – how cool is the orange and purple contrast, and the strappy sides of the bikini bottoms? Loving the rest of these items too. What’s great about purple is that it doesn’t need to be super bright, and I love the softer shades too, like the almost pink of the lace of the Ahilya scarf, or the darker, deeper plum shades that verge on the edge of oxblood. My favourite item from the ones above is probably the Mother Denim maroon jeans. Perfect colour for everyday AW outfits.

dress: ASOS, shoes: c/o Sperry, ring: c/o Trash & Trinkets
A simple long-sleeved dress is an Autumn essential. Black or grey is probably far more versatile, but I love a splash of red, and I’ve toned down the look with these awesome shoe-boots from Sperry. I love the brogue detailing – so perfect for this season’s tailoring trend – and I think the colour and shape make them great for work as well as more casual outfits like this. On a side note – I really like how my hair looks in these photos, but I’m getting it cut soon at Daniel Mikhael’s salon in London. Any ideas what I could get done? I want to keep most of the length but I really need a change in the style of the cut now, I’ve had this cut for way too long!

2nd October, 2012

So September was a bit of a crazy month for me, with loads of ups and downs. The biggest up of course was that my agent landed me my very first book deal! It’s a two-book deal with a fantastic publisher, and I seriously couldn’t be more excited. Being an author is the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do, and I thought it’d be a dream I’d be chasing all my life. To have it come true at 22 seems ridiculously lucky! I can’t wait to share more details about the book with you when I can 🙂
Then the biggest down this month was of course going to hospital with appendicitis for five days. But that’s behind me now (hopefully) so I’m looking forward to a very busy October. Highlights are set to be the Cosmopolitan blog awards ceremony this Thursday evening, where Girl in the Lens is up for best new fashion blog, and my first meeting with my publishers later in the month. Hope everyone has a fantastic month lined up and let me know what you’re looking forward to most! x
