Italian footwear brand Superga appointed Alexa Chung as the creative director and model for their SS12 collection, and as one of my favourite British style icons I was really excited to see the results. I’m loving these yellowy gold shoes in the photo above, and Alexa’s perfectly styled them with a white crotchet dress and amazing sunnies. You can check out more pictures and Superga’s shoes here. If you’re not familiar with it, basically they give away a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair of shoes purchased. It’s a simple transaction with a huge impact. Well, now they’ve also launched an eyewear range which will also be supporting a similar initiative, but instead of shoes, with every pair of sunglasses purchased TOMS will give someone who is visually impaired either a pair of prescription glasses, medical treatment, or even sight-saving surgery. As someone who’s passionate about ethical fashion, and did a Geography degree looking at all these sorts of issues, I had to post about this. It’s the kind of initiative I like best; it has a clear focus, a simple function and works to turn something that could be seen as a negative – consumption – into a beautiful thing. And not only that, but TOMS products are cool. I’ve picked some of my favourites above. The ones with the blue frames are probably my favourite, they’d look great with this season’s pastel colours and a messy top knot. So if you’re looking for a pair of sunnies to welcome in the summer, why not check out TOMS, knowing that you’re not only getting a pair of cool glasses but you’re also giving sight to someone. I mean, how awesome is that?

denim shirt, grey tee, metallic trousers, black cork platforms, ditsy rucksack: (c/o) Next Last month I shared with you guys the first round of Next’s style challenge, pitting Aussie and British bloggers against each other in a style off, to see who could work their heritage best. You can check out the post here if you haven’t seen it – we got to pick one Next item each to style, and I enjoyed pairing my zip shirt with leather shorts and a yellow blazer in a modern twist on a school uniform. Well, I’m so excited to announce that I was picked by Next as their favourite British blogger, and went through to the final round to face it off with their top Aussie girl, the gorgeous Willabelle of Pale Divison. It’s pretty daunting to be up against such a stylish blogger, but I’m happy with my outfit, which I think definitely represents British style. I’d like to think it’s a little cool and nonchalant, with a boyish sexiness running through. I have to admit, I was daunted at first at picking an entire outfit from Next, but I won’t be any more. They’ve got some really great pieces to fit into a modern, fashion-forward wardrobe – like these metallic jeans, how amazing are they?! I could completely see two of my top British style icons Kate Moss and Lou Doillon rocking these jeans. Who’s your favourite British style icon? jacket: H&M, hoody: Topshop, top: Topshop, trousers: H&M, boots: Topshop, bag: French Connection A really simple outfit here that I wore to an interview (minus the hoody – that was just because it was a bit chilly out!). I didn’t realise it at the time but looking back this outfit is almost entirely Topshop and H&M – they’re definitely my go-to high-street stores for simple pieces. I love the simplicity of the scalloped edge of the red Topshop top over the sleek black trousers and boots. I added a blue jacket and bag because I love blue on black, there’s something really cool to me about the two colours together. Do you like wearing blue and black together?
