BOYFRIEND BORROWED

jumper: Topshop | jeans: c/o ASOS | boots: Timberland c/o Blacks | bag: c/o Forever 21 | watch: c/o Storm London | glasses: London Retro c/o My Optique
Hi ladies! Firstly, a big big apology for the lack of posts recently. I’m struggling so much with no internet in the new flat! Going cold turkey has definitely helped with my internet addiction (I’ve learnt to step away from the online world and take a little more time out for ‘me’), though it’s made working and blogging very difficult. Hopefully you’ll stick with me though as I’m getting used to going to cafes for free wifi, so there pace of posts should pick up. Now on to the outfit!
So many of my favourite new things here in this look. I don’t wear glasses but how could I resist these beauties from London Retro – with plain lenses in the frames of course! All of London Retro’s new Metropolitan collection are named after tube lines – how cool is that!. I went for the gorgeous District style. Wearing them just makes me feel so Zooey Deschanel a la New Girl. No one needs to know how many times I did this when the glasses first arrived in the post (hint – it was a lot):

Callum and I are huge fans of New Girl. If you love the show too, check out the style guide Zalando have done for girls inspired by Jess’ style – it’s such a great idea! While Miss Jessica Day would most definitely approve of my cropped jumper here, she’s not really a boyfriend jeans kind of gal, but I wanted to toughen up my outfit and make it more winter-friendly with my trusty ASOS pair. My new Timberland boots add an even more utilitarian vibe. Timberland boots have long been on my wishlist, so I’m super excited to finally own a pair! They’re a million times softer than I’d imagined they’d be and just so versatile. The only problem is the rubber soles mean you have to be careful of static shocks! I got a big one the other day and genuinely thought I might die for a few seconds (ok, minutes …) x

PARTY PIECES

dress: Bill and Mar c/o Little Black Dress | clutch: Lulu Guinness | tiara: ASOS | ring: c/o Jana Reinhardt
I fell head over heels for this dress as soon as I saw it. I’m not usually one for a plain black dress when it comes to going out – I prefer a splash of colour, something fun (as you’ve probably noticed from my past posts!) – so this pastel purple dress with a super cute peplum dress just cried out for me to pick it. I love how clean its lines are, and it’s cut perfectly. Not too tight or loose, and not too short or long either. Wearing this dress makes me realise how underrated pastels are as colours for party dresses. They are soft and clean enough bases to take OTT accessories and sparkles, and especially around Christmas time, a girl is gonna want her sparkles. They have a gorgeous collection of cocktail dresses at Little Black Dress – the one I’m wearing here is by Bill and Mar – so do take a look if you’re after something special this Christmas. And as these pictures prove, they don’t just have black dresses!
I’m also wearing the beautiful Twin Hummingbird Ring from Jana Reinhardt in these shots. It might not be as bold as my playful Lulu Guinness lip clutch or as sparkly as my tiara from ASOS, but it’s such a sweet design and I’ve been wearing it every day since I got it. Jana Reinhardt have been lovely enough to offer an exclusive £20 discount for you all too. With Christmas coming up, it’s the perfect time to get a piece as a present – a beautiful piece of jewellery is always a great gift for any girl – or you could always treat yourself to a little something. To get £20 off your oder, pop in the code ‘blogger20’ at checkout. It’s valid on all purchases excluding sale items.
Happy shopping lovely ladies! x

FRIDAY FAVOURITES
jeans: J Brand | shirt: Orvis | boots: SMNY | bra: My Curves and Me| knickers: Myla | hat: Topshop | necklace: Jamie Jewellery | eye shadow + nail polish: D&G
A little shopping dreaming here as it’s the end of a long week and it’s so dark and cold outside, and there’s nothing like browsing my favourite online stores for a cheeky pick me up. Along with the usual suspects (Topshop and ASOS, I’m looking at you), I recently discovered My Curves and Me, a great lingerie site which has hands-down one of the best mulitway bras I’ve ever tried – and just £25 for a two-pack! Have a click and view the range. Another new favourite is Brantano, which has an insane choice of womens boots. I’m a boot fiend when it comes to winter, and Callum would probably tell you I don’t need yet another pair … but there’s always space for new shoes in a girl’s life 😉
I’ve also started to try and invest more in make up lately. I’ll always be a quick-dash-of-mascara-and-go kind of girl, but as I get older I do want to experiment a little and try some higher-end brands. I’ve already got a few Chanel pieces, but I’ve also gotten into D&G for beauty products now too. Their eye shadow quads especially (I love the Fabulous set as the green shade is so nice) are amazing. I also love their super shiny gold packaging – they are products you just know are going to look gorgeous on your dressing table. If you’ve got a girlfriend or female relative you’re unsure about for their Christmas present, I’d definitely recommend a D&G eye shadow quad.
Talking about Christmas – there’s a festive-themed post coming up on the blog next! Can’t wait to share it with you x

COLOURED MONOCHROME

jumper: French Connection | skirt: Topshop | boots: Jones | bag, belt + scarf: c/o New Look
Earlier this week, New Look – one of my favourite high street stores for great, affordable fashion – sent me over three key winter accessories and challenged me to style them up as best I could. As someone who usually keeps accessories to a minimum, this was a great challenge to push me a little further, and personally I’m so happy with the result! Starting with the pleather backpack, which has such a cool, edgy vibe, I went for an easy urban outfit that still has a touch of elegance to it. I usually don’t wear chunky belts, but I love the way it ties together the whole outfit here. The silky, feminine scarf also helps keep the look sophisticated, and the soft colours are just beautiful. I’ve always been a huge fan of their shoes, and New Look party dresses are always gorgeous too, but now I’ll be keeping my eye on their other accessories too.
When we took these snaps I was also so excited to finally share my quilted Topshop faux leather skirt with you girls too. As soon as I saw it, I knew it’d be a staple for my winter wardrobe. You’ve probably seen it around on other bloggers and on the streets as it’s super popular. As with most Topshop things, it’s a touch pricey (£40), but their quality is always reliable and you know you’ll be getting a lot of wear from their pieces. It’s short enough to wear in summer with cropped tees and Converse, so hello value for money. There’s a white version too, which is amazing, but I’d be too scared of getting it dirty to ever wear it!
Hope you’re all having a good Monday so far sweeties! Post again soon 🙂 x

NEW LICK OF PAINT

Sky+HD Box: c/o Sky
New flat decorating has all but been completed (we’ll be sharing pics with you soon!) and today we got the final piece of the puzzle – a new tv. We spent a good hour or so in one very busy John Lewis store looking all the different tvs, by which I mean Callum looked and I got bored and drifted off to browse the rest of the store. Of course he was adamant on getting a 46″ screen, so now the ginormous thing has pride of place in our living room. We took these pictures this morning, so that’s why we had to draw in an imaginary tv, but it’s pretty much that big. Callum is beside himself with glee. While we don’t actually watch a lot of tv, the big screen will be great for our film nights and marathon runs at the weekend of old shows like The OC, and we’ve got it all set up with our new Sky+HD Box so we can record our favourite programmes and use the wifi for watching BBC iPlayer.
If you’re wondering why our Sky Box is looking so beautiful, it’s because a few of them have been treated to a little makeover. Sky have teamed up with fashion designers Roland Mouret and Giles Deacon, style icon Sophie Dahl and men’s fashion rising star Kit Neale to create a limited edition collection for the new Sky+HD 2TB box, which have just gone on sale. These boxes have all the oomph of the originals (built-in wifi, tonnes of storage, pause and rewind for live tv etc) but now look amazing too.
I love this collaboration. It’s such a treat to have a beautiful piece of tech that you feel proud to display, rather than hide away in a cabinet. I also love that each design has a meaning behind it, as each box was inspired by its creators’ favourite tv /film genre. Sophie’s inspiration for her design (the one we’ve got here with the floral pattern) is really sweet. She explains, “I started modeling as a teenager during a time where fashion was irreverent and full of magic. I love the theatre of fashion, a theatre that can belie the work that goes behind it. I’m a big fan of old fashion illustrations and textile design from the twenties and thirties, Cecil Beaton and Chanel in particular. It was their fashion illustrations that were the inspiration for my Sky box: the rose, something sweet and playful that conjures romance.”
How lovely is that! The girly sketched style of Sophie’s design really does add a touch of colour and whimsy to our living room – much needed, since we now have the world’s biggest tv hogging up most of the space. Callum’s already got a huge desk area with all his tech stuff on the other side of our open-plan living room/kitchen (he’s christened it Man Central Station), so I think it’s only fair I get to inject a feminine feel with this pretty box. Sophie’s is my favourite of the four designs, along with Giles Deacons’ animation-inspired print. Take a look at the other designs here and find out more about these limited edition boxes. Which is your favourite? x
