I swear, I walk into a Zara store and it feels like a cross between Primark, TK Maxx and H&M. So many clothes, in no sensible order, with orange price tags dotting everything like ugly confetti. I’m not one for trawling through heaps of clothes to find hidden gems, so I tend not to hang around too long. But then I go onto the Zara website and it’s the complete opposite. Calm takes over. An easy-to-navigate website. Beautiful, simple styling that is effortless but modern. And the clothes! I can’t seem to find half this much good stuff when I’m in a Zara store, which is such a shame as there are so many things I’d love to try on. Above are just some of my picks for SS12. Their skirts are probably my favourite items at the moment, impeccable, and the pastel jackets are great too.
Are you a Zara fan?

Dear hair gods, can I please have my locks like this in time for Spring? Thanks!

All my friends know I’m a huge Marks and Spencer fan. I’m constantly raving about their food that some people have asked me whether I’m paid to sponsor them or something! I wish. But anyway, when I was invited to the M&S pressday for their summer range I jumped at the chance. On the day, however, I couldn’t go due to illness, so my lovely photographer boyfriend Callum went on his own instead. He was delightful enough to send me pictures throughout the day of all the amazing food there, which obviously really cheered me up (er..), but he did bring back a selection of beautiful photographs, an overflowing goody bag, and information on what the whole range is about.
A Summer to Remember is all about celebrating the best of British in what is set to be an incredible summer for our little island – the Diamond Jubilee on the 5th of June, and then of course the Olympics throughout the summer. The whole range is a red, blue and white bonanza, and from the homewear to the food to the clothes, there’s a great selection of British-themed items. My favourite pieces from the range have to be the tights (see the second-to-last set of pictures). They’re quirky, modern and cool, and a great way to fly the flag for Britain without being too in-your-face. I love the ‘Made in Britain’ back-seamed ones and the London skyline one. Watch out for them when they hit the shops in April, or find them online next month here.
Are you looking forward to Summer 2012?

With the pretty warm weather we’ve been having (which in the UK means NO COATS), Spring is most definitely on the way. And what gets me in the mood for Spring more than anything is colours! Enough of this blue, black, khaki business that Winter imposes upon us, I’m ready to throw on clothes and accessories with colours all over the place. Yup, paint my wardrobe a rainbow, and I’ll be one happy girl. Above are just a few colourful items that are on my Spring wishlist. I’ve actually been a bit cheeky and already ordered the ASOS playsuit – I can’t wait to pair it with coloured platforms and a bright little belt.
Are you excited about Spring brights?

jacket: Urban Outfitters, top: H&M, jeans: New Look (c/o Style Compare), shoes: New Look
It’s been a busy few weeks for Girl in the Lens – collaborating with Westfield on their ‘dressing for your body shape’ project, and then competing in Next’s British vs Aussie bloggers challenge. Rounding up all that activity is this fun little competition with Style Compare. They gave four bloggers a gorgeous pair of New Look pastel jeans to style, and whoever’s look is voted the best will win not only a Stylecompare voucher for themselves, but one for their readers too! I’d love to be able to giveaway the £25 voucher to one of my readers, so if you’re a fan of my lemon-coloured jeans outfit, click here and vote at the bottom under my picture for me 🙂
My outfit was pretty simple, as I wanted to let the jeans be the star of the show, but these yellow jeans would have looked great too with an oversized jumper and tall trainers or a graphic tee and boots. I’ve never bought clothes from New Look before, only shoes and bags as I’ve said before, but these jeans fit amazingly and are great value for money – £16.99, hello! Along with my mint jeans, I’m building a little pastel jeans collection. Apricot next I think …
So, pastel jeans – yes or no?
