A DAY AT THE (AIR) RACES
It definitely felt a little wrong going to Ascot wearing ripped jeans and trainers, but this weekend the famous racecourse traded horses and frocks for planes and baseball caps as the Red Bull Air Race came into town.

I’m not the biggest fan of travelling by plane, but let’s just say it makes me feel like a big fat baby for being scared of riding in a commercial jet when Red Bull pilots are speeding round just a few feet above the ground at ridiculous speeds and twisting round loops at 10G a pop. It’s so inspiring to see that kind of skill – and bravery. I’m sure after years of doing it they’re used to it, but I always wonder how they felt that first time they hit those kinds of speeds and pulled those crazy manoeuvres. I bet they were pretty darn glad not to have a camera inside the cockpit on those flights 😉
In honour of the event, I went for a casual sportswear-inspired look with my DIY ripped jeans (the DIY part was totally intentional of course, and not because I got them caught on a bit of metal poking out from a fence) and a twist on the classic baseball tee with this £6 crop version from Forever 21. I also did a coincidental bit of colour matching with my new Nike Air Max sneakers, which have been pretty inseparable from my feet the past few weeks. I’m so glad wearing trainers with any and every outfit is now 100% fashion approved. There’s nothing more comfortable on a long day out. Plus, they’re just as good for when I go on runs … which I think I’ll stick with over hurtling through the air in a tiny little plane, thank you very much!
