BLOGGER BUDDIES
It’s been three years working on the blog now, and even though it’s still such a passion of mine, such a joy to share my little corner of the web with you all, it does sometimes get to the point where it’s tough to stay feeling inspired. But I guess it’s like that with anything. The beginning is always easy – you’re so full of excitement and bursting with energy, and all you want to do is eat, breathe and sleep your work! Then somewhere along the way your passion becomes muddles as things start to feel more like a job, and you fall into a routine that can often feel stifling. That’s why new projects like the one I’m about to introduce you to are so important to me – it’s about getting back to basics, and remembering why you started in the first place!
Don’t get me wrong, I absolute love street style and it will always be a big part of Girl in the Lens (hence the name!). And we know it’s what you guys love to see from us too. But I hope you’ll join us on some new ventures too as Callum and I have got so many more things we want to share with you, more ways to be creative and just have fun with photography and blogging. And the first one of these is something that’s been in the works for a while now: a new series where I get to introduce you to my gorgeous blogger friends and style icons, and we get to have fun posing for some cool new snaps in the process! Take a look at our first shoot in the series with uber-cool male fashion blogger Karlmond, aka Mr BoyΒ …
coat and jumper: c/o Marc Cain | boots: Russell and Bromley | bag: Topshop
Hopefully some of you are still here, and we haven’t lost you all as you rush off to explore Karlmond’s blog! I wouldn’t blame you since it is stunning, especially after it’s recent redesign. Seeing Karlmond’s blog evolve over the past couple of years has been such a wonderful experience for me as it was actually my idea he start one! We’re old school friends, and a few years ago when we met up for a long-needed catch up I explained to him all about mine and Callum’s blog and how exciting the blogging scene was. Karlmond’s always had a flair for fashion – how cool is his effortless, off-duty style? – so it seemed a perfect fit for him. Two years later and he’s established himself as one of London’s top male bloggers, and I couldn’t be prouder.
With this series Callum and I really wanted to tailor each photo-shoot to the blogger’s style. Monochrome just felt like a natural fit with Karlmond, and the silver details of our accessories (totally coincidental, but ‘great minds’ and all that ..!) worked perfectly with our choice of location, Millenium Bridge. When it comes to monochrome this winter nothing beats my Marc Cain houndstooth coat (on sale now!). Maybe double houndstooth might be a bit too much for some, but I love the playfulness of mixing two versions of the same print together, and hopefully you’ll love the combination as much as me!
For Karlmond’s outfit details head over to his gorgeous blog, Mr. Boy. And please let me know what you think of our new photography project in the comments below! I’ve got some of my favourite bloggers lined up for shoots in the new year π are there any you’d especially love to see us shoot with? x

Thanks Lix! Just started with this one π
Beautiful photos!
I understand what you mean about finding it hard to stay inspired. The beginning really is easy because it’s exciting and it fuels you. Then something happens, maybe you’re right in saying that it starts feeling like a job, and you lose your passion. I think we have to do things differently sometimes and remind ourselves why we started the project (or whatever it is) in the first place. So, I think you have the right idea; this new project is perfect. You will see why you fell in love with this from the beginning. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your thoughts M, totally agree! Let’s get back to basics and remember the joy of just creating content for fun π
