Update from the flu cave: I am plodding along, recovering slowly because Callum and I have been pretty frantic trying to move everything into our new flat and set up all our Ikea bits, and all the while it feels like I’m carrying the weight of a small elephant around in my head. But never mind that, because – *happy dance* – the flat is AMAZING. It’s feeling more like home with every new bit of furniture we set up. I’ve finally figured out how to work the crazy touch-screen hob, Callum has a teeny little photography studio area to call his own, and our super king size bed might just be the comfiest thing ever created. So all in all, despite still being in the midst a flu-daze, I am one happy blogger.

Speaking of blogging, here’s the usual run-down of today’s outfit. Since buying this knit jumper dress from ASOS I have practically refused to wear anything else because it is the ultimate cosy winter piece. Super comfy but sexy too in the bright red and deep v neck. I wear it at home with knee-length socks or fluffy slipper booties for a luxe loungewear feel, then when I go out I just add a cool coat and a pair of boots for an urban edge. When I come back home though, it’s straight into the fluffy slippers again! Nothing beats comfy clothes in winter.

A cute, cozy little outfit to combat those winter day blues. Last weekend we went up to London for an #olumpusimagespace event (super fun afternoon spent shooting with the new Olympus cameras, will have a post about it up soon) and as usual, I left it a bit late to get ready, so just had to throw on a quick outfit from the few things I had with me at Callum’s house.  I’m not sure why, but I’m always really drawn to opposites when it comes to colours, so naturally my giant pom pom scarf (a Topshop sale find) and red coat and red leather jacket just gravitated together on my body. Added a bit of pattern detailing with my stripy Forever 21 bodycon dress and kept the rest in neutral black and white, and my outfit was done.

Yes, I’m aware I’m wearing like a gazillion layers and it’s not even properly winter yet, but I’m a total wimp when it comes to the cold. And despite my wrapping up like an early Christmas present, I still managed to catch the flu. Gah. And at the worst time too, because – *drumroll please* – Callum and I have just moved in together! Literally today! We got the keys earlier to the most amazing little flat in St Albans (staying in the hometown for now, homies) and through cups of Lemsip, the fog that is my flu mind and about twenty packs of tissues, it’s been a super exciting, happy time. We can’t wait to share our new place with you guys, and I anticipate a lot of home decor posts coming up as we get nesting. It’s only renting, but it still feels amazing to finally have a place of our own x

NEW KICKS

AllSaints Below the KneeAllSaints leather boots

AllSaints

Just a couple of days ago, AllSaints – one of my favourite high street designers who are known for their trademark leather pieces – launched a new footwear collection, Below the Knee. If, like me, you’re a leather-lover, then you’ve probably had your heart set on getting a pair of AllSaints boots for as long as you can remember. Well now take that leather-lust and times it by a kazillion, because oh my lord, is their new all-leather shoe collection gorgeous. There are 43 styles to choose from, including boots of course, but also flats, sneaks and stilettos. My favourite pieces from the collection are the two shoes at the top of the above photos. The colour of the boot on the right is just phenomenal, and I love the zip and buckle detailing, and I love the high-shine on the high-top sneakers.

To celebrate the launch of Below the Knee, AllSaints have got an awesome Instagram competition running throughout November. Take black and white snaps of your ‘below the knee’ style and use the tags @AllSaintsLive and the hastag #BelowtheKnee, and your shots will be uploaded to a gallery on the AllSaints website. The Instagrammer with the best photo will win an overnight trip to London with a friend, where they’ll get treated to a special dinner, private viewing of the new footwear collection and a pair of shoes from the collection. Good luck if you’re entering girls! I will be – my heart is set on those mauve booties! x

Industrial style winter coats

HEAVY DUTY

Brrrr is it cold out there now! Winter has swooped suddenly upon us like it does every year, and now I’m spending my days cuddled up in my mum’s trusty cashmere jumper and wearing at least four layers whenever I leave the house. One of the good things about the colder weather though is COATS. I love coats. I have a rather unhealthy amount of them in my wardrobe, but when you live somewhere that’s cold for almost the entire year like Britain then it’s totally allowed.

While I love feminine coats and bright, girly colours, my every day essential is an industrial, heavy duty, menswear-inspired coat. I love the waxy style of Barbour jackets – Sister Online have a great selection – and they’re super sexy with their clinched in waists and military influences. They’d definitely be my urban coat of choice. I also love long walks in winter, so for a day in the country a sportswear jacket from Millets or a similar outdoor shop is vital. I actually like the look of a sporty winter coat with jeans and a pair of boots. Super simple and super cute. x

Mango Kids

Happy Monday girlies! I saw this lookbook over the weekend and thought it was the cutest thing. How adorable is the little girl! The way Mango have translated the outfits into both adult and children’s wear is great too. I’d totally not have minded looking like my mum if these were the sorts of outfits we’d rocked together when I was young. Not that my mum isn’t super stylist – she is! In fact, these pictures have inspired me to do a mother-daughter shoot with her sometime so you can all see where I get my style inspiration from. Would that be something you’d be interested in seeing? It would certainly make for a fun shoot. Poor Callum – two Ngan women to handle … 😉 x
