Something a little different for my look today. I’m not really big on kaftan-style tops and I don’t wear that much green, but something about this Never Fully Dressed top just pulled me in. It’s a cool mix between prim and polished, and grungy and cool. I could totally see Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung rocking this top in very different but equally gorgeous ways. As the cooler weather is fast drawing in, I wore mine with a vintage leather miniskirt and boots for a more urban, edgy style.

How is everyone’s week going so far? Mine has been a complete whirlwind. My debut YA book The Elites came out yesterday and it’s now in bookstores in tonnes of countries! Unbelievable! I was busy preparing for the launch party on Tuesday (pics to come soon) and then the last two days have been mostly taking a bit of time to relax after all the madness and enjoying tweets and messages from readers across the world. Thank you to all who ordered or bought copies – it means so much. If you’d like to help my little novel in its first tentative week out in the wild, have a read here on the ways you can give it a little boost. Free things to do too if you can’t afford to buy a million copies! x

Lazy summer afternoons are such a treat. My days are always so busy, and at the weekends Callum and I are either seeing friends, getting on with blog work or doing household chores, so a sunny afternoon spent lazing in my garden with fries, Pimms and magazines was a rare but amazing little time out. A cute bikini is of course a must for summer, and this year my go-to bikini has been this gorgeous piece from Bondi Bather. The Australian cut (aka more bum on show) is super sexy and the ocean-style print makes me feel so beachy wearing it! If only I could actually wear it at the beach – I haven’t had the chance to visit one yet this year (can’t you tell from my oh-so-tanned skin? ;)). Hopefully soon!

P.S. If you haven’t heard me from all my screaming about it on Twitter, my debut novel The Elites (a young adult YA sci-fi/fantasy) comes out this week on Thursday. That’s THREE DAYS. People who’ve pre-ordered it on Amazon have already been getting their dispatch notifications! You can find out more about it on my author blog and I’ll be posting pics from the launch party tomorrow night here in time 🙂 for everyone who’s already ordered a copy or plans to when it comes out in stores – thank you so, so much. It means the world to me x

Orange coral clothes accessories wishlist

CORAL CRUSH

coat | shoes | bag | beanie | earrings | nail polish | lip gloss

Coral is probably my favourite colour to wear – there’s something just so fresh and vibrant and juicy about it! I love the mix of oranges, reds and pinks (three of my other favourite colours) and like I’ve said a million times before, bright colours can really boost your mood, so you know you’ll be feeling super great and confident in coral. As we’re swinging into the colder months now, I’ve picked out some pieces above that’ll be perfect for winter.

Can we start of by all agreeing just how amazing this Tommy Hilfiger peat coat is? It’ll definitely wake you (and everyone that sees you!) up on cold, dark morning. It’s the sort of classic coat that’d look great with so many outfits. Add a striped breton jumper, skinny jeans and this cute watermelon beanie for one totally adorable look. And for the party season, a pair of sparkly heels are a must! I love these platform peep-toe heels -sure they’re a bit OTT and you’ll probably be dying for a pair of flats at the end of the evening, but they’ll make your legs look amazing and are just so fun! Coral is also a great beauty colour for any skin tone. Add a sweep of this lip gloss over lips for that final pop of colour.

Word of warning. Maybe don’t try wearing all these accessories and beauty products at once – you might end up looking like an oompa loompa 😉 x

Outfit | Union Jack Shorts and Heart Sunglasses

Summer outfit

RED, WHITE AND BLUE

top: c/o Tokyo Laundry | shorts, bag and sunnies: c/o Chicwish | shoes: Converse

The sun has popped back out here in the UK for a few days, which has made me super happy! Even though I’m too busy right now preparing for the fact that my book releases in the world in one week’s time (ONE WEEK AHHHH!) to actually get out in the sun, it’s lovely to have the last of the summer sunshine filling the house. This outfit is certainly not very ‘fashion’, but to be honest I couldn’t care. A tee and denim shorts are often my go-to style when it’s hot out. Add a pair of heart sunnies and how could you not be happy wearing this outfit? I only realised after we took these shots that it’s also a very patriotic outfit, since I’m sporting all red, white and blue (ok, the backpack is more green, but it’s minty enough to fit under blue ;)). Perhaps this will cheer Mother Nature up and will encourage her to continue sending sunshine our way … x

Wishlist | Leather for AW13

AW13 leather wishlist

LEATHER LUST-HAVES

coat | hair bow | bracelet | jumper | boots | skirt | bag

The thing I love best about the weather getting colder and the nights drawing in, winter fast on its way, is that it means it’s time to hunt down some new leather pieces for my wardrobe. Of course. Let’s ignore for now that my wardrobe has grown so out of control that my clothes are actually piled onto boxes in my room, because it’s practically a law that all girls must get themselves a few new leather or leather-look pieces every winter. And by a few, I mean all the above and more, obviously.

This season we’re really spoilt for choice. The high-street have offered up some stunning leather pieces such as the ones above, and they’re super affordable too – all the items I’ve picked out are under £100. In fact, the most expensive is this gorgeous contrast-sleeve coat, which is £75. Not bad for a piece that’ll see you through the dark months. I love how chic off-duty models look in a simple black outfit, and this coat is a great way to achieve that style. Just throw over some black skinnies, boots and a fisherman’s jumper, and you’re good to go. And because leather does not always have to be black, add a dash of colour with this gorgeous white cross-body bag and a super cute red hair bow.

Now I’ve got my new leather items down, I feel prepared for the cold. Bring it on, winter! x
