My Celebrity Fashion party

Pink shirt and animal print

shirt: Bershka, shorts: Topshop

PARTY! They’re always a good excuse to get dolled up and get a little tipsy, and that’s exactly what we did at My Celebrity Fashion’s relaunch party last week. It had all the ingredients for a good fashion blogger party – drinks, nibbles, clothes and fashion bloggers of course! It can be a solitary life we lead, so it was great to have a big get together. I got to see the lovely Debs from Bang on Style, Laura from That’s so Yesterday and Clare from Rainbows and Fairydust (who even got down on all fours to yank my heel out of a wooden plank where it had got stuck!). Looking forward to more hilarity at the next big blogger event – Cosmopolitan’s blog awards! Eek – fingers crossed we win best new fashion blog!

Rare gold skater dress

Another skater dress! I’m not sure why I love them so much, but I think they are quite flattering on my figure. It’s always important to dress in clothes you feel suit you, and not just because they’re on-trend. I love dresses like this one from Rare – ones that can be worn both day and night – and as the weather’s been so gorgeous this last week I teamed it for a casual day look with colourful socks, a leather bag and green nails. I had the best evening last night – my girlfriends came over for drinks, nibbles and chat, and it turned into a pretty epic 6 hour session! Nights like that are the best. I hope you’re all having a great weekend too 🙂

AllSaints AW12

AllSaints AW12 campaign

AllSaints

As we all know, military and menswear are big trends for the upcoming AW season, and AllSaints are the perfect brand to find key pieces to hit these styles. They’re already renowned for their masculine silhouettes, with oversized knitwear, leather coats and tailored trousers that manage to strike the balance between tom-boy and sexy, and add to this their military influences (their leather boots are the best on the high-street) and we’ve got the ultimate brand for AW12.

I’m also really liking their new campaign video. Directed by AllSaints Chief Creative Officer Wil Beedle, photographed by Aitken Jolly and shot by Tom Beard, it has a really cool range of cast coming together (ballerinas, artists, musicians and poets anyone?) to celebrate the creativity and innovation of the new collection. It’s fun to see a brand doing something a little different, and I like the link between the creatives in the video and the clothes they’re wearing.

PS. I’m gutted that I missed last night’s Vogue Fashion Night Out party at AllSaints on Regent Street – everyone’s told me it was a great success and a really fun event, with a live DJ, drinks and of course the chance to nab the newest pieces to hit the stores. I’ve had my eye on the Daminis High Tops since they came out – guess I’ll have to get them another time.

Nasty Gal’s Debut Collection

Nasty Gal clothing line

Nasty Gal lookbook 2012

Nasty Gal

Nasty Gal’s do it better? Oh yeah they do! I’ve been a huge fan of the American online store Nasty Gal since I discovered them a couple of years ago, and it’s been amazing to watch them grow from a relatively new retailer who’d just moved from eBay to a .com into a huge online store with its own clothing line. I can’t afford to shop from them as much as I’d love to (customs fees are a killer!) but perhaps that’s a good thing, or my bank balance would not be very happy with me. Every single item on their site is great, and I love how their buyers and stylists always seem to work with a particular girl in mind – their collections are always so cohesive.

Their debut collection represents everything that Nasty Gal is – cool, carefree, quirky and sexy, whilst being a bit of a tomboy at heart. I love the 80s vibe. It’s really fun, and that retro-style is a big trend for AW12. Things I’m loving most – the mesh-panelled dress and black heels in the first picture and the jumpers in the last. Get in my closet please?

Jacquard Blazer

Denim shorts and heels outfit

Styling jacquard print blazer

Jacquard blazer AW12

blazer: c/o BooHoo, top: Topshop, shorts: Republic, shoes: Zara

We all know jacquard is a big trend for AW12, but styling a jacquard blazer isn’t the easiest of things – when it’s on the hanger, it looks garish and crazy and a little old lady. But I think it can actually look pretty modern, especially when mixed with other prints or worn here simply with a tee and denim shorts combo. Another outing here for my amazing Zara heels. To be honest, I don’t think I’m ever going to take them off! They’re so cool and comfy, and give casual looks like this a little kick. I’ve been wearing these styles of outfits for the past few days as we’ve been having some gorgeous weather here in the UK. I would say I hope it lasts but lets not tempt mother nature hey?
