Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesden

So this is not exactly a fashion post, but chances are a lot of you are fellow Harry Potter fans, so I thought it might still be of interest to my readers! When I got an invite to the studio tour of Harry Potter at Leavesden, I jumped at the chance. I love seeing behind-the-scenes stuff, and with Harry Potter it’s even better as I went to school so nearby the studios, and some of my friends were in the movies. The tour is really great, and as it is almost entirely self-guided, you can take your time exploring the beautiful sets and workshops. Here are some of my favourite parts of the tour …

Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesdon

The Great Hall (reminds me of the hall in my old college at Cambridge)

Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesdon

A model of Hogwarts (don’t you wish you could shrink to be able to walk around in it?!)

Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesdon

Diagon Alley (this is the coolest place. I want to go on a shopping spree here!)

Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesdon

Gryffindor Common Room (warning: dangerously comfy sofas)

Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesdon

Dumbledore’s office (a pensieve would have really helped me during exam term!)

If you’re a fan, I’d definitely recommend going. Ticket prices are fairly reasonable, seeing as you can spend as long as you want in the studios (though three hours is probably enough), and there’s a great canteen with the best food I’ve had at a tourist attraction for ages. Also – you can try a cup of butterbeer, which really does taste exactly as it sounds!

Any Harry Potter fans out there? x

dress: LOVE, floral headband: c/o Rock ‘n’ Rose, shoes: Steve Madden

If you have hay-fever, you might want to look away now – going floral crazy today with this post! Floral dress, flower headband, and even real flowers in my parents’ beautiful garden! What is it about the sun that just makes me so attracted to all things flowers? I love this shirt dress from LOVE, it’s so easy to throw on, and the lightweight material is perfect for summer. I teamed it with my new floral crown from Rock ‘n’ Rose. I’m forcing myself to try new things with headwear/hairstyles, as I’m really lazy and just fall into the same routines of either doing nothing to my hair at all, putting it in a top-knot, or giving it boho waves with a curling iron. Plus, a floral headband is just so summery I couldn’t resist it!

Swimwear Trends Summer 2012

I’ve only just got back from holiday, but already I’m dreaming of my next one! And with that dreaming comes one of the most important aspects of a holiday – swimwear! I can be pretty bad with swimwear – I tend to just keep wearing the same bikinis every single year. I think I’m afraid of spending a lot on something us Brits don’t get to show off much. But now I’ve found my secret weapon for great, on-trend beach and pool pieces with a perfect price-tag – swimwear from Tesco Clothing! I’ve picked three of my favourite swimear trends for this summer and found a great swimwear to match from Tesco. So no more excuses for me – I can now buy plenty of new swimwear each year without worrying about spending too much money!

Swimwear Trends 2012 - Neon

F&F Mix And Match Neon Colour Block Bandeau Bikini Top (£3.50), F&F Mix and match neon tie side bikini briefs (£3.50)

I love this trend, but then I am a bit of a colour junkie. What’s great, though, is how fun and playful it is. Go for layered stripes and don’t be afraid to mix and match as many colours as you like – the more the better! This is a great trend for beach parties and goofing around the poolside with friends. Wear with cute sunnies and wedges.

Swimwear Trends 2012 - Crotchet

F&F Crochet bandeau bikini top (£7), F&F Crochet tie side bikini briefs (£5)

I’ve never actually owned a crotchet bikini, but it’s something I’ve always wanted. It just looks so easy and gorgeous, and is sexy without trying too hard. I love lighter shades, and white is always flattering on any skin tone. This crotchet bikini is perfect for a romantic trip with your other half to a gorgeous beach resort. Wear simply with tousled beach hair and gold accessories.

Swimwear Trends 2012 - Pinks and Patterns

Marie Meili Daikiri animal print swimsuit (£26)

This is a totally fun, girly trend. Clashing pink colours blend with crazy patterns for a flirty look perfect for catching the pool boy’s eye! Pink is a great colour too, as it looks good on all skin tones – from palest, English rose-white to the deepest Brazilian tan. Team with bright eyeliner and layers of jewellery for extra glamour.

Which of these three swimwear trends is your favourite? 🙂

Neon Bags by Marc Jacobs

Since getting a neon yellow bag and a fluorescent green Zatchel that is literally so bright it could cause permanent eye damage if you look at it too long, I’ve been obsessed with bright arm candy. I really do think that bags are something worth investing in, as they’ll last you for years, and a well-made bag is truly a joy to have on your arm. So I’ve been doing some virtual shopping for a neon beauty I can invest in on one of my favourite online stores, Farfetch. One designer has really caught my eye with their brightly-coloured beauties – just look at these gorgeous Marc Jacobs bags!

Neon Marc Jacobs bags

I love the subtle neon detail of these bags, with just the perfect amount of zany colour to make them a little different from your everyday bag, but easy enough to incorporate into any wardrobe, including your work clothes. I’d wear all three of them with the following outfits (pinched from Nasty Gal – where else?!):

Outfits to go with neon bags

The smart work outfit on the left would look great with a shot of neon, but I’d keep all the other accessories to a minimum so if you have to dash to an important meeting with a client, you don’t offend them with too many colours going on! The subtle neon details of the bags would also go great with the evening outfit in the middle – neon looks amazing on white. And for a cool, day look that isn’t too put-together, the outfit on the right would be great with even more colour. I love layering colour for playful summer day looks.

Are you also crazy for neon?
