Had to share this beautiful outfit from tuula with you guys (if you haven’t seen it already!) I usually don’t go for such a sophisticated, lady-like style but the gold sequin sleeves and hard, manish accessories give it a really cool, young edge. Perfect.

New Year’s Resolutions For the Blog

Just a little post to say a) HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!, b) hope you had a lovely time over Christmas, and c) I’ve come up with a couple of New Year’s resolutions for the blog! Here they are:

  • More outfit posts – I always wanted this blog to be mainly a personal style one and very photography heavy. It’s been difficult to do as many outfit posts as I’ve wanted because it’s been getting dark so early, so when I’m back from work the light has gone already. Also, Callum’s been super busy with his MSc, so he hasn’t always been free to take pictures and edit them for me. This will be a difficult resolution to keep I think as I’ll be living apart from Callum most of next year, but we’ll try our best to work around this and make sure that there’s a lot of good outfit posts on the blog.
  • New look – Not the shop, but an actual new look for the blog. We’ve been working on this for the last few weeks, so hopefully it’s going to be launched soon. I’m really trying to give the blog a more distinct identity (to go along with the increased focus on outfit posts).

That’s it, but I’d love to hear from you guys what you’d like to see more (or less) of on the blog! And thanks so much everyone for a great few months at the tail-end of 2011, and here’s to an awesome 2012 🙂

Merry Christmas!

I’m writing this post in my Christmas pyjamas and long red socks with baubles on, which can only mean one thing – it’s Christmas! I’m so excited about opening our little bundle of presents, having a big fat roast dinner (pigs in blankets ftw) and then sitting around with the family watching children’s films and eating lots of chocolate. I hope you all have a fantastic day and here’s a big Merry Christmas from me and Callum at girlinthelens! See you in the New Year 🙂

I am so in love with this modern, bohemian take on the Wild Wild West. Wildfox have always had that urban, casual cool with a rocky edge, so it’s great to see it translate into this sort of setting, and that they can work with girly, peachy colours too. it’s one of the best lookbooks I’ve seen for SS12. Bring on summer.

Silver Dresses

Most people want sequins and silver for parties, but to be honest I love the idea of silver dresses in the daytime. With an oversized jumper or man-cardi they’re the epitome of casual, easy sexiness with a boyish vibe (a la Rumi of Fashiontoast – who else?). It’s the kind of thing that works for places like New York though, I’m not sure the streets of London would appreciate my subverted eveningwear and people might mistake me for a hooker. BUT it’s still a cool look and I wanna rock it out sometime in the warmer months.

These three dresses are from Nasty Gal. Not sure where to find other silver dresses – let me know if you know a good place. I really need to stop featuring Nasty Gal or people are gonna think they pay me (they don’t), but their styling is just too good.
