Wishlist | His + Her Christmas Gift Guide

SANTA CLAUSING

A little last-minute gift inspiration for those of you that aren’t weird like me and buy your presents months in advance! Even if you’re just looking for the finishing touches, hopefully there’ll be something here that catches your eye, and all these gifts are affordable at under £50. One of the best things about buying online is how quick it is, so if you’ve been super busy at work in the run up to the holidays and don’t have a lot of time to browse the high-street, just shop your gifts on the net! You might want to opt for a quick delivery option, but most sites will be able to tell you whether your purchases will arrive in time for Christmas, so check that first. Another plus to online shopping is that there’s a tonne more variety, though indecisive people, be warned – this can mean you end up browsing each site for hours! I am most definitely not speaking from experience … *cough*.

Happy shopping sweeties! x

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

As it’s the 13th December, we can official say we’re over halfway there now!!! Normally I don’t get this excited about Christmas. I don’t know what it is this year, but the festive spirit has me on full hold. I’ve already bought all my presents for everyone, and tomorrow Callum and I will be sitting round our little tree with mulled wine, mince pies and Bublé on the speakers (the only time of year he’s ever on), wrapping them up so they’re ready to go! I love getting our friends and family presents. I always end up buying way too many things for each person and having to save them for the next Christmas … then do the exact same when it comes around! This year I might try and bake a few wintry treats to go with our presents too. How amazing do those gingerbread snowflakes above look? I love cooking but I’m not a fan of baking, as I’m super impatient and can never be bothered to measure anything … so we’ll see how that goes!

Hope you are all feeling as festive as I am now and looking forward to fun Christmas times with your family and friends 🙂 if you weren’t already, I’m sure these pics put you in the mood! Just close your eyes and dream of aromatic spices, deep, shaggy carpets, the grey-white of the sky as snowflakes fall silently through the air, glowing log-fires, laughter like spun champagne, the crinkle of wrapping paper, frost-patterns dancing across your windows, and the warmth of a hot mug of melted chocolate cupped in your hands … x

LEATHER LOVE

One of my favourite things about cold weather styling is getting to wear all my leather pieces! Perhaps I got a bit overexcited here, because I’ve doubled up in a leather jacket and skirt. Both are real leather pieces, and I personally think it’s worth the investment to pay that little bit extra to get the real thing. Unlike fur, there aren’t the same animal cruelty issues to worry about (unless you are vegan of course, and then you can go for amazing vegan leather alternatives like Matt & Nat’s products), and leather is easy to keep and clean. Plus, it practically lasts forever … though perhaps not, given how much I wear these two pieces! We all have plenty of leather jackets, so why not branch out and go for a bright red one like my one from Mango? It’s the perfect zap of colour for black and white outfits. It looks super hot with blue jeans and a tee too, or over dresses to toughen up your look.

I’d usually wear an outfit like this with a pair of boots, but since it’s the party season I thought I’d go for something a little more playful like these gold strappy heels from Tamaris. How amazing are they! I’ll be completely honest – when I first saw them in the box, I thought they were going to be so uncomfortable. But they’re actually incredibly comfy! I was wandering around the flat, trying them out … and an hour later I was cooking dinner, totally oblivious to the fact I was still wearing them! They look great on their own, but as it’s nippy out I kept my tippy toes warm by wearing them here with some fun socks. You saw my love for the socks-and-heels combo just one post ago. Some people aren’t keen on it, but it’s definitely a favourite style of mine – and for some of you guys too, judging from your comments!

Just so you know, I was sent these heels to take part in Tamaris’ amazing blogger challenge, where one lucky girl will be flown to Berlin fashion week in January to cover the shows as Tamaris’ official reporter! Please keep your fingers crossed for me if you like my outfit 🙂 I’ve never been to Berlin – or to Germany, for that matter – and it’d also be my first international fashion week, so I’d absolutely love to win! Have any of you been to Berlin? I’ve heard it’s a super cool city with the best night life! At least I’ll have my party shoes ready if I do get to go … x

Take 10 | Christmas Party Dress Challenge

Faux fur leather jacket

BACK TO BLACK

Fashion blog photographyJarlo London party dressesGirl in the Lens fashion blogSilver stilettos Lulu Pearls wrap bracelet Topshop statement necklaceLittle black dress LBD Jarlo London

dress: c/o Jarlo | jacket: c/o Barneys via IL2L | heels: c/o Call it Spring | necklace: Topshop | bracelet: Lulu Pearls

After only recently saying I prefer colourful party dresses to LBDs, what do I go and do? Choose a little black dress to shoot! I guess the beauty of this Jarlo dress was just too much to resist. I’ve always been a sucker for slip and shift style dresses – they add a much needed dash of volume to my small frame – and the super low back of this one is so sexy. Along with the pretty lace detailing on the front and the silky material, it’s definitely a perfect party piece.

A great thing about going for a simple dress for a party look is being able to max it up with statement accessories. Silver heels always feel a little OTT, so I like toning them down with black socks for a more casual vibe. Then just add a bold, blingtastic necklace (Topshop have an awesome range – and the one I’m wearing here was just £2.50 in the sale!) and a sparkly bracelet like my Lulu Pearls’ wrap one, and you’ve got a party style that’s bound to wow!

It’s feeling so Christmassy now, isn’t it? We never celebrated Christmas much when I was younger, but now Callum and I have our own flat, I’m feeling super festive! Plus, his family is big on Xmas celebrations so each year I’ve been getting more and more into the spirit of things. Tomorrow we’ll be putting up our first tree together. Big stuff! We’ll make sure to take lots of snaps to share with you all 🙂 hope you’ve all got festive plans for this weekend too?

PYJAMA PARTY

pyjamas: c/o Wildfox | booties: Bedroom Athletics

Welcome to our bedroom! One of my favourite things about our new flat is the huge windows – on sunny mornings like this, the light just streams in, glazing everything in a soft honey glow. It makes getting changed out of my pyjamas extra difficult on the weekends, as it’s just so nice to lie there on our giant super king bed and have a lazy morning reading and chatting, but why would you want to get changed out of pyjamas as cute as these anyway?! Wildfox have recently launched their first sleepwear collection, and girls – it’s gorgeous. My favourite is the Dreamer Sleepshirt (the one I’m wearing here). The material is so soft it’s like warm silk on your skin, and the soft pink with the black trim detail feels so classic and girly. Plus, I love the fact it has the word ‘dreamer’ on the back. It’s a word that means a lot to me, because I think it’s so important to work hard and reach for your dreams. Life is to short to settle for anything less. So dream away!

Also, don’t you think these pjs would make a super cute Christmas present (though you’ll have trouble giving them away, I’m sure!)? They come beautifully packaged too in a black box wrapped with ribbon. Wildfox are currently having a 25% off promotion across their entire site, so do have a browse if you’re looking for a gift or two – the discount ends midnight tonight though, so hurry! I always find a cheeky shop is always a nice way to end a long Monday though anyway … 😉 x
