Dressing Like a Teenager

Sorry I look so grumpy in these photos! I fail at model face most of the time and end up with this blank, slightly angry stare instead haha! Or perhaps Callum had done something to annoy me whilst we were shooting 😉 hehe. Anyway, I shouldn’t be grumpy because I really love this outfit. It’s one of those easy, cool looks that you can throw on any day and feel good in. Black and blue is always a winning combination for me, but I love the fresh pop of colour the mint backpack gives to this outfit. I know I challenged myself at the beginning of the year to dress in more feminine, lady-like styles, but sometimes I just want to dress like a teenager again! Someone told me the other day I don’t look a day older than 18 so I’m only making sure I’m looking my age anyway 😛 x

Reiss 1971 Collection

Reiss 1971

Had to share this gorgeous new collection from Reiss, because PASTELS and SIMPLICITY and GORGEOUS. Reiss’ new take on its Nineteen Seventy-One line combines beautiful colours and prints with relaxed designs in a modern fit. While it’s more of a youthful direction for Reiss, it still manages to maintain their signature sophistication. I still can’t get over that mint leather jacket and that striped dress – get in my wardrobe now! How do you like the 1971 collection? x

Libertine by Giles Deacon

Callum headed down to The Ivy last week to check out Libertine by Giles Deacon, a collection of affordable but oh-so-gorgeous jewellery from the famous British designer. Unfortunately  I was ill that day, so wasn’t able to go with Callum, but he brought back these amazing photos and I’ve been oggling the jewellery ever since. Giles is known for his playful and quirky designs, and you can really see that in every Libertine piece.

It’s a 16 piece collection with stunning designs in predominantly gold tones, embellished here and there with Swarovski elements. Prices range from £14.00 to £70.00, which really surprised me as the pieces look expensive, especially displayed in elegant cages with scatterings of gold fragments around them. My top picks are definitely the Enamel Pop Up Bangle – how cute would this look worn on the upper arm with a simple black dress in summer ? – and the Character Pendant Necklace – I love layering fun necklaces like this with a little white tee. Which pieces have caught your eye? x

Take 10 bloggers - Swatch styling

I was recently invited to join the Take 10 girls after one of their members left, and I’m super excited to be part of the team. If you haven’t heard of the project before, it’s basically a group of 10 UK fashion bloggers who each receive the same/similar item from a brand and have to style it in their own way. I thought it would be a fun feature to have on the blog, and it would also expose you lovely readers to some of my favourite UK bloggers. Plus, it’s always inspiring to see the many different ways just one piece can be styled.

For this challenge, we were styling Swatch watches. I was given a really manly, chunky gold number, something very different from anything I already have in my wardrobe. But being the fan of menswear-inspired dressing that I am, I was excited to build a masculine but still sexy look around the watch. Some of you may know of my eternal hunt for the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans. Well, I think I’ve finally found the perfect pair! These vintage-inspired ASOS jeans are utterly wearable, with an awesome fit – loose enough, but still form flattering, especially on the bum – and I love the ripped details. I’ve barely taken them off since I got them. To the watch and jeans, I added a cool net jumper (with a bandeau top underneath as it’s pretty revealing!), heels to keep the outfit feminine, and my new favourite bag, the studded Georgia from Label MB.

Anyway girls, I’ve rambled on long enough! I really hope you like my outfit and are as excited as me to see more of the Take 10 challenges. Make sure you check out the other girls’ blogs too to see all the different ways you can style a Swatch x

Pink Lipsy Dress

dress: c/o Lipsy, shoes: c/o Nelly

Callum and I got bored of shooting in the road, so we thought we’d venture up into the farmland near my house to take some shots with this super bright pink dress when there was a little sunshine this weekend. Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas – just as we got out, the sun disappeared, and the world turned dull and grey again. So while these pictures aren’t exactly what I had in mind (I was thinking more along the lines of this shoot Callum did for my cousin’s engagement), it’s still nice to see a change from our usual road setting, and I love how the dress really stands out against the woodland backdrop. I’m all about colour when it comes to party dresses. I think it just makes such a statement, and allows you to feel more fun and playful than you would in black or white. This dress is so pink though, it could verge on being too cutesy, so I added some studded heels to tone it down and kept my make up minimal. Lipsy always have such a great range of dresses.

What do you think of the photos? We’re hoping to start doing more editorial, themed shoots (a little like this, but way better) as it’ll be a more creative for us, will really make use of Callum’s awesome photography skills, and hopefully more fun for you guys to look at too! Let us know what you think x
